Oroville Dam Emergency Spillway Repair on Existing Terminal Structure and Chute Blocks
HPC was retained to support emergency repairs associated with the Oroville Dam Emergency Repair Project. The scope of the project involved the removal of concrete to a depth of 14” to 16” from the Dam Spillway at the Terminal Structure including Chute Blocks, Terminal Walls, Slab, and Ramp. HPC and its subcontractors worked around the clock with multiple robots – project challenges included extremely high strength concrete, oversize aggregate, and use of recycled water. HPC completed 82 days of hydrodemolition removal, with final surface preparation achieved through mechanical removal to meet schedule requirements.
